Gerrard Smith Airport, Cayman Islands, travel information
Cayman Brac is an island that lies Northeast of Grand Cayman in the Caribbean Sea. The name Cayman was given by the pirate, Francis Drake while Brac was from the Gaelic name of one of its prominent features which is a massive central limestone outcrop called, “the Bluff”.
Adventure-seeking tourists would love to visit the island because of its scuba diving sites, caves, and rugged terrain. Scuba divers can dive to the sunken Russian Koni class frigate, which is one of only a few Soviet Naval vessels in the Western Hemisphere that can be easily dived. The caves of the island can also offer tourists a glimpse of delicate underground formations. The island is also a world-famous climbing destination and a fish surfing and big game fishing haven.
Going home from Cayman Brac is not complete without purchasing or looking into its famous Caymanite jewelries.
