Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina and the eighteenth in the whole United States of America. It is the county seat of the Mecklenburg County and is nicknamed, “the City of Churches” because of the presence of several churches from several denominations and is the birthplace of Billy Graham.
The city first experienced growth after the Civil War from its cotton industry and being a railroad hub. Today, it is home to the United States’ largest financial institution by assets, the Bank of America, is the second largest banking headquarters in the nation, and a major center in the US motorsports industry.
Charlotte also offers a variety of landmarks including the Independence Boulevard, Independence High School, Independence Center, and the Freedom Park and Drive. Other things to see within the city are its public and private libraries that contain vast collection of books.
