Caxias do Sul, Brazil, travel information
Caxias du Sol is the second largest city in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in Southern Brazil and was established by Italian immigrants on June 20, 1980. Considered as a very important city in the whole of Brazil, it is home to many industries and rich self-motivated markets, and famous for its vast vineyards and wineries.
The Italian heritage brought into the city is well evidenced in its culture, food, buildings, old houses, and other infrastructures. Tourism in the city is good because of this cultural integration. It offers many attractions including the Sao Pelegrino’s Church, Bishop’s Palace, several museums and cultural centers.
Main charm of the city is the National Grape and Wine Festival. Visitors may eat cheese, grapes and drink a variety of Brazilian wines or they can visit the Chateau Lacave Castle, which is presently being used as a winery.
