Caracas is the capital and largest city of Venezuela. Its history involved conquest by Spain, attacks by pirates, fights for independence and becoming Latin America’s economic center because of its oil reserves. By the 1960s modernization programs were implemented throughout the city.

The city has many service companies and industries that fuel its economy. Many of these companies manufacture chemicals, textiles, leather, food, rubber, iron, and cement. It is a major employer to the city’s residents.

Caracas has a tropical savanna climate, but with a lower summer temperature. This makes it perfect for tourists to enjoy its main sights which include Casa del Libertador and the National Pantheon of Venezuela. It is also the cultural capital of Venezuela which boasts several museums, libraries, and cultural centers.
