Cancun City is a world-renowned tourist destination and is located in the easternmost state of Mexico in the Yucatan Channel. It was originally known as Ekab or Black Earth and was thickly populated by Mayan speaking people before it was colonized by Spain.

Tourism is an industry in the city. There are about 150 hotels that are shaped like a 7 with bridges on each end connecting to the mainland. There are also shopping malls, theme parks and activities like swimming with the dolphins. For those tourists who are more interested on nature and archaeology, they can visit the Riviera Maya while people who want to party can visit the city streets at night that are bustling with many activities.
