Campina Grande, Brazil, travel information
Campina Grande or Great Plain in English is a city in the eastern Paraiba State of Brazil. This city was originally called Porta do Sertao, which means “gateway to the dessert” and was established as a village in 1766.
At present, the city is considered a significant commercial and industrial center in the northeastern interior of Brazil. It is a major distribution center of beans, cassava, and leather products and has several factories that manufacture textile, metallurgical and pharmaceutical products, and clothing.
Besides being an industrial hub in the area, Campina Grande also houses many places of interest. The mineral and agricultural research stations and an art museum are among these together with the month-long music and dancing Forro Festival that happens in June.
