Calgary, Canada, travel information

Calgary is the largest city in the province of Alberta in Canada. It is mostly hilly with long, dry, but highly variable winters and short, moderately warm summers that makes it a well-known destination for winter sports and ecotourism.

Most of the revenue of Calgary comes from its oil and gas industry. High-tech manufacturing and agriculture also adds up to the income together with tourism that provides tour packages to attractions like Heritage Park Historical Village, Canada Olympic Park for winter sports, and Spruce Meadows. It had hosted the 1988 Olympic Winter Games and has one of the fastest long track speed skating ice rinks in the world. It also has several museums, hosts a number of festivals like the Calgary Stampede and the Folk Music Festivals, has one of the largest Chinatown in Canada, and boasts the world’s most extensive skyway network.
