Formerly named Usumbura, Bujumbura is in the western part of Burundi. It is the capital of the country and of the Bujumbura Province in particular. The place is famous for the beautiful ferries that bring its people to and from Tanzania. It also boasts of an international airport, rail links and wide roads that facilitate smooth travel for tourists. Economically progressive and advantageous in terms of geographical location, Bujumbura is Burundi’s trade, financial and communication center. While in Bujumbura, tourists need not worry about accommodation because a number of hotels and inns are around to give a comfortable stay to every guest. All the time can be devoted in visiting the cotton and coffee plantations, seaside and beautiful resorts and parks that surround the place. The University of Burundi is also in Bujumbura.
