Béjaïa, Algeria, travel information
Bejaia can be found in the northern part of Algeria. This Mediterranean port is one of the largest cities in the country and is known under a lot of European names: Bejaia was known as Budschaja in German, Bugia in Italian and Bougie for the French.
The town is overlooked by the famous Yemma Gouraya, a mountain resembling the shape of a sleeping woman. You will find that the Soummam River runs past the town as well making it an ideal place for fishing.
A must see in the area is the Pic des Singes or Monkey Peak which is a habitat for the endangered specie Barbary Macaque and Macaca Sylvanus. You can also drop by the Gouraya National Park.
