Allakaket is a traditional native area in the USA. The name was derived from the old name for an Episcopal mission that came to the area. You can find the traditional lifestyle of the Athabascan people in Allakaket.

There area lot of local crafts that you can take home as souvenirs. These crafts include moccasins, gloves, beaded slippers, sun catchers and many more.

Tourists are advised to watch and participate in traditional dances, foot races and potlatches to have a complete Allakaket experience.

You will find that there is no road access to Allakaket. You can only get to the city through a lighted 3,500 foot runway. There are no roads also in Allakaket that connects them to other areas but there are winter trails that would lead to nearby towns. The river is often used as transportation during the summer bur since the water is too shallow, large boats are not allowed to enter the area.
