The capital of Mizoram state in India, Aizawl has a population of 228,280 residents. It is also the location of all the important government offices, the secretariat and the state assembly. Aizawl is also a cultural and religious hub of the Mizo tribal people who have a distinct culture all their own. Due to its elevation, Aizawl has a gentle sub-tropical climate with summer temperatures ranging in the twenties and thirties Celsius. Many tourist attractions are available throughout Aizawl including the Mizoram State Museum, Durtlang Hills, Mini Zoo, the Berawtlang Tourist complex, the Bung picnic spots on a hill and Tamdil which is a lake bound by cooling forests where boating is available.
