Aguascalientes City is the capital of Aguascalientes State in the western part of central Mexico. The city stands on the Rio Aguascalientes banks with an elevation of 1888 meters above sea level. Many migrants from other states come to Aguascalientes as the precisely planned highways and the excellent lanes and avenues are surrounded by many industrial parks which employ a lot of people. The largest Mexican festival called the San Marcos Fair is held in Aguascalientes which takes place form mid-April until May.

The most notable building in the old part of the city is the 1664 Baroque Government Palace which is constructed out of red volcanic stone and is known for its having one hundred arches. The oldest building in the city is the Baroque Cathedral which dates back to 1575. The historic downtown district houses several top-of-the-line museums including the classical Aguascaliente Museum designed by Refugio Reyes. The Guadalupe Posada Museum is located in Triana’s historic neighborhood and exhibits the life as well as the work of Jose Guadalupe Posada.
