Surrounded on each side by breathtaking coral reefs, Agatti Island is a seven kilometer long island with a total land area of about two-point-seven square kilometers in India. The island is situated 459 kilometers just off the Kochi Coast and is the smallest union territory of India. Access to the island is only possible after either a twenty-four hour boat journey or a seventy-five minute flight from Cochin. The nearby Cochin Agatti Aerodome is Lakshadweep’s only airport with Indian Airlines providing passengers’ flights.

The journey is well worth it, however, as the white sandy beaches that welcome you are a feast for the eyes. An entry permit to the island is required and can be obtained from the Lakshadweep Administration. The Agatti Island Beach Resort is available for accommodations and a confirmed reservation is required before seeking the entry permit.
