Aden is a port city in Yemen and is an ancient natural harbor which lies in an extinct volcano crater. With a population of 800,000 people, Aden used to be the capital city of the people’s Democratic Republic of Yemen until it unified with the Yemen Arab Republic. This was the same day that Aden was declared a free-trade zone.

A variety of attractions in Aden include an ancient system of water cachement located in the crater’s subcenter called The Cisterns of Tawila, Sira Fort, The Aden Minaret, the Palace of the Sultanate of Lahej which is now the National Museum, The Aden Military Museum, The Rimbaud House, the fortifications of Jebal Shamsan and Jebal Hadid, the Aden Beaches, the little Aden Beaches, the Al Aidaroos Mosque, the Zoroastrian Temple as well as the fantastic architecture of the historical British Churches. Both local and international tourists will love the Old City of Aden which is the oldest among all the Aden attractions and contain tunnels and many historical fortresses.
