Formally known as Acapulco de Juarez, Acapulco mean’s ‘place of big reeds’ and is a major sea port city in the Guerrero State on Mexico’s Pacific coast. It is located three hundred kilometers from Mexico in a deep bay shaped like a semi-circle. Shipping and cruise lines going to and from Panama and San Francisco dock in Acapulco’s port.

Acapulco is a resort city constantly filled with local and international tourists. It is the largest city in the state, even larger than Chilpancigo which is the state capital. Since the twentieth century, Acapulco has been the tourist destination of choice for long holiday cruises from the United States and Mexico. Aside from its never-ending white sand beaches, Acapulco provides glass-bottom boat tours to its Roqueta Island. Water sports are a popular activity including para-sailing, scuba diving, water skiing, deep sea fishing, sailing and snorkeling in the breathtaking coastal waters.
