This Nigerian Capital is a well-planned city located in central Nigeria in the Federal Capital Territory. It is known among its residents as the best purpose-built African City and is also the most expensive as well as the wealthiest.
Built in the eighties, Abuja replaced Lagos as capital and in the 2006 census has a population of 778,567. Its geography is largely defined by a four-hundred meter monolith caused by water erosion called Aso Rock. Extending to the rock’s south are the Presidential Complex, Supreme Court and National Assembly. Sights and attractions include the Nigerian National Mosque and the Nigerian Christian Center.
The city skyline is made up of a few tall buildings and mostly middle range buildings. Modern in design, the buildings reflect the modern society and plans have been made for the construction of a number of skyscrapers which includes the 170-meter Millennium Tower currently undergoing construction.
