Aberdeen, United Kingdom, travel information

More popularly known as Granite City, Aberdeen is the third largest city in Scotland and is located in Northeast Edinburgh. With a population of 202,370, Aberdeen sits on the riverbanks of Dee and Don right in the center of the northeastern coast. Arranged around an operational harbor, Aberdeen experiences more wind and rainfall than the usual city as it lies right on latitude in Moscow’s north. The city’s oil enterprises in the seventies have caused Aberdeen to become quite prosperous earning the nickname Oil Capital of Europe or Energy Capital. Although a mere 4 percent of the Scottish population lives here, they have control of 8 percent of the country’s spending power.

The city has a corporate, businesslike feel not only among its people but also in its environment of gray granite buildings which sparkle like silver due to the mica deposits of the granite. This has made some people call the city Silver City with the Golden Sands. Due to the wealth of its residents, world-class hotels, restaurants and transportations line its streets. The Aberdeen Art Gallery and Maritime Museum are open to the public for free everyday. A lively nightlife and many local pubs will keep you entertained to your heart’s content.
