Dohop SmartSelect™
SmartSelect is web service that can be called from the booking form on an airline website to provide a list of valid airport pairs and dates based on the airline's latest flight schedule.
Booking a flight online, usually begins with the visitor's selection of airports and travel dates. Many airline websites invite the user to select invalid airport pairs and dates that have no planned flights which leads to error messages such as: "your search criteria did not retrieve any results."
Dohop SmartSelect eliminates such error messages by serving the user with valid choices only.
With SmartSelect there is no need for the visitor to consult flight schedules to see what destinations are available and when. The SmartSelect enabled booking form facilitates the first step of the booking process and thereby helps to improve conversion.
Provided as a turnkey service hosted and operated by Dohop, SmartSelect is easily implemented on any airline website with minimal effort by the airline's web team. It integrates easily with most airline booking systems. It can easily be implemented alongside other Dohop solutions such as the Dohop Connection Platform, and Dohop Connection Search.
Using SmartSelect enabled booking forms
A visitor is able to choose departure airports from the full list of airports, but as soon as the departure airport is selected, the choice of destination airports is limited accordingly. The choice of valid travel dates is equally restricted based on what is truly available for the chose flight route. Dates can be selected from a calendar or a drop down list.
How does it work?
SmartSelect imports and maintains a database of flights that can be booked by the airline's booking engine. SmartSelect provides a range of user interface elements that can access the SmartSelect server e.g. type-ahead selection, calendar pop-ups and drop-down airport or date selection.
The look and feel of input-fields and calendars is defined by the airline. The user interface communicates with the SmartSelect server to access lists of valid airports and dates to choose from and intuitively presents the options to the user.
Customization Options
The flight selection can include code share flights and connected flights. If required, SmartSelect can allow selection of flights that are handled by external booking engines via the Dohop Connection Search or the Dohop Connection Platform. The service can be designed for any website look and feel, and integrated into any airline website.
