"Dohop, an Iceland-based technology firm, says the recent marketing agreement between Aer Lingus and jetBlue has caused a surge in interest among other airlines interested in similar arrangements. Aer Lingus and jetBlue will engage in what you might call "interline lite"-enabling travelers to book connecting itineraries and make relatively seamless transfers between the carriers at JFK while avoiding prorated fares and other complexities of more traditional interline agreements. Dohop offers a consumer metasearch on its website, which pieces together sometimes-unofficial connecting itineraries that can be cheaper than published fares, and the firm sees opportunity in providing similar technology to airlines-particularly LCCs but perhaps also cost-conscious legacy carriers-so they can enjoy many of the revenue benefits of cooperation while avoiding many of the usual costs."
